Shaving Cream Backgrounds

MATERIALS

  Cheap Shaving Cream
(the no moisturiser variety)
Food Colouring (3 colours)
  Shallow baking dish Spatula
Cream or white matte card Water or paper towel
Newspaper or Paper towel Permanent black ink

PROCEDURE

Place shaving cream in shallow baking dish.
Drop approximately 9 drops of food colouring onto the shaving cream (use 2 or 3 colours only - 3 drops of each colour) swirl gently with a spatula.
Lower card into shaving cream and pat down until card has connected fully with cream - this removed any air bubbles that may have formed.
Remove card and quickly wash shaving cream off under the tap - or wipe off using clean dry paper towel (wiping may cause some colour bleeding).
Leave flat to dry on newspaper or paper towel – iron when dry to flatten further – or press under heavy books.
Stamp with a permanent dye ink (Stayzon black) and mount onto card.
