PROCEDURE

Art Moulds and Paper-clay
Condition Paper clay
according to directions on packet. Break off a small ball of
paper-clay roughly the same size as the hole in the mould you are
trying to fill. Forcefully push the paper-clay right into the
mould, use a bit of brawn here as you are trying squash the clay
into all the cracks and crevices of the mould. If the clay
does not come up to the top of the image add a little more and press
down firmly - continue to add clay until mould is full or until clay
reaches the desired height in the mould. Leave overnight to
dry - beware, if you live in a humid environment (like I do) then it
really will be an overnight process - potentially more if it's
raining! When clay is dry you should be able to tip the
image out of the mould. You can then colour it with paints,
rub-ons, rub and buff, radiant pearls or many other colourants.
Attach to your project with a dimensional liquid, clear craft glue
or super glue. |

Art Moulds and Opals
Pour dry Opals embossing
powder into Melting Pot and turn pot to highest setting. Pop
on the lid and leave for 5 minutes - check to see that all powder is
melted. If melted now is the time to add in any accent colours
if you want to. When these extra colours have melted,
carefully pour liquid Opals into Krafty Lady art mould (these don't
need to be inked as they are self releasing) and leave to dry.
If you particularly want a very flat back you can use another mould
to scrape off excess Opals while they are still liquid in the mould.
This scraping also squashes the Opals into all the little crevices
of the design. Leave to set/cool for 5 minutes (really cooling
time is quicker than this but you don't want to turn out the mould
too soon and potentially ruin it). Once completely cool you
can use your Opals embellishment just the way it is - or you can
brush a little bit of rub and buff or metallic rub-ons over
the surface to highlight the design. Attach to your project
with a dimensional liquid, clear craft glue or super glue.

HINTS & TIPS
| |
My
Opals aren't glossy!
No - when you use them
in the Art moulds the surface touching the mould takes on a satiny
or pearly appearance rather than the normal glossy look. |
