MATERIALS

A5 sheet Smooth Coloured Card Double Sided Tape
Castaway Ink Pad and Castaway Re-inker Scissors or Paper Trimmer
  Specialty Papers and Card Iron

PROCEDURE

What a wonderful and exciting ink pad – there’s not much to this technique, it’s almost fool-proof!  Begin with any coloured cardstock or paper, as long as it has a smooth finish.  Some colours and brands work better than others, it’s a matter of trial and error to find the products that work best.

Ink stamp with Castaway ink pad, bold stamps or stamps with thick lines work best.
Stamp onto paper or card, clean stamp immediately – this ink can leave a tacky residue that’s tricky to remove from nooks and crannies if left on the stamp for an extended period.

Leave on card/paper for approximately five minutes and then heatwith an iron on cotton setting (no steam) until the colour begins to change.  If an image is not appearing, then holding the iron in one spot for between 10-30 seconds without moving it, will bring out the image.  Repeat for any difficult spots until stamped areas of card are ‘colour changed’.

Using the re-inker and a paintbrush, images stamped with a waterproof ink are able to be colour changed.  Stamp image and  let the ink dry, then colour areas to alter with the fluid from the Castaway re-inker.  Leave to set and then heat set with an iron on cotton setting (no steam) until the colour begins to change.

HINTS & TIPS

This technique is not suitable for heating with an Embossing Tool – this will dry the ink rather than heating it resulting in very little colour change if any at all.
Clean ink from stamps immediately after use, as ink adhered in crevasses of the stamp can be difficult to remove.
This technique is not suitable for use with embossed images, as the embossed images will melt when additional heat is applied to activate the ink.
Textured card, such as Bazzil - Linen,  will not absorb the ink evenly and will produce patchy results.
