Marvy Metallics
MATERIALS
| |
Several colours of Marvy Metallic markers (eg: gold, copper
and silver) |
Spray water bottle like those used to mist hair,
plants etc |
|
Gold Schminke |
Black gloss card |
|
PROCEDURE
| |
Lay scrap paper onto a flat surface and fill bottle with water, set
to spray on mist setting (the finest one). |
| |
Cut black gloss card to appropriate size for your
project. |
| |
Put gloss card glossy side up on scrap paper and shake Marvy pens
well. |
| |
Take off cap and shake pen downwards to release ink onto card.
If they're being stubborn then press pen nib on card to release ink,
this way is less messy but also less fun. You will end up with
randomly splattered colour on the card. |
| |
Repeat step 3 for further colours of Marvy ink. |
| |
When you have a covering of ink splats to your satisfaction, then
spritz card with water. At this point you can do several things
to create different effects:sprinkle rock salt over wet Marvy and leave to dry, brush off salt
later, tip your wet image to one side or multiple sides to make the inks
run,lay scrunched plastic lunch wrap over wet image and leave to dry,
gives a crackled look, leave as is and let dry naturally (see example
at top of this page), or my favourite - add some gold schminke and lay another piece of gloss
card over the top so that the glossy sides are touching. Smoosh,
swirl or slide one across the other to create wild patterns and
amazing looking backgrounds. |
| |
More Schminke while drying = a gold dust look. |
| |
Leave to dry. |
|
HINTS & TIPS
| |
Use no more that 3 colours at once or you end up with a mess |
| |
Paler effects can be achieved using white gloss card as the base |
| |
Too much water will crack the gloss card and/or bleed the colour out
of the Metallic inks |
| |
Don't rest your drying project on absorbent paper towel as
it will suck
the ink off your card - leaving you with very little but a silvery
smudge (speaking from experience here). |
