PROCEDURE

HINTS & TIPS
| |
Buy good quality slides from a Microscopy supplier,
as these are less likely to
have impurities which can result in breaking, shattering or chipping. If you have to get them from a craft store - buy
by the box (it's cheaper). |
| |
Use good quality laser printed images (that way colours won't run if
wet) and keep embellishments as flat as possible - I like to rip the front
layer of printing off & just use that (if using printed cardboard
embellishments). |
| |
I like to cheat a little (as it adds strength to finished piece), by gluing
the images between the slides with some dimensional liquid. Gluing also makes
sure your images stay exactly where you want them. Some
people advise you not to do this - I can't figure out why! If using my idea and gluing - use laser
printed images (so the colours don't run) a clear drying glue (I like
Diamond glaze) and make sure you really squeeze the image to the
slide (not talking about pressing hard here - rather smooshing the whole
thing together to remove any air bubbles).
This will give you a solid piece to work with and make edging the slide
easier. |
