Pearlex 2
MATERIALS
|
PROCEDURE
| |
When
applying PearlEx without paint you can just rub it on with a finger,
apply with a damp paint brush or a cotton bud.
Another way that this can be used is over the
top of clear embossing ink. Stamp onto coloured/black paper and
gently brush some PearlEx over the embossing ink. The powder
clings to the ink and you get a beautiful sparkly images. Again -
this needs to be sprayed with a sealer. |
| |
When applying PearlEx with paint it can be put into almost
anything (acrylic, water colours, gouache, gum arabic, glue, nail polish
- the list goes on, I've even put it in wax when making candles for a
little oomph.) It can be added to a colour to give some sparkle or
to clear paint as the colour. Just put a small amount of paint
onto a pallet or plastic lid, mix in a little PearlEx and paint.
The best results are achieved when your image has been embossed, as this
prevents the embossing ink from bleeding. No sealant is needed
when you mix the PearlEx with paint as the paint acts as the sealant. |

PearlEx and Versamark Pad
Using
Versamark watermark ink pad (or any pigment ink pad if youre careful)
stamp directly onto card or paper. Using a small brush apply PearlEx
directly to ink using a patting motion do not brush, wipe or swirl the
brush as it can smear the ink. Once you have the image dusted with
PearlEx leave it for 5 minutes (somewhere without a draught as this will
blow the PearlEx around) to set. Using a fluffy make-up brush (the kind
used to apply blush) gently brush the excess PearlEx off the card do
this outside or you will PearlEx the entire house! Spray with hairspray
or fixative to set. This looks amazing on any card. You can also mix
PearlEx with water or gum arabic and paint with it. Mix it with paint
and paint with it. Add it to embossing powder or UTEE to create your
own magical blends (a fingernail full to a whole jar of ep is all thats
needed).

HINTS & TIPS
| |
PearlEx is a dry powder with very tiny
particles of a pearly mica-like-stuff that you can rub, brush or tip
onto anything. The only drawback is that it doesn't stick by
itself so you need to apply either a sealer to your work when finished,
or mix it with something to apply.
