MATERIALS

Coloured copper wire (blue, green, gold) Double sided tape
Gold shim and double edged metal stylus Multi coloured gold leaf
Non Sequitur stamps - Tut collage, ankh, scarab beetle and 'Egypt' Gloss varnishing spray
Versamark Watermark ink pad Black A5 base card
Several colours of PearlEx, in this card - interference blue, green, gold, duo blue/ green, antique gold, brilliant gold, super russet Black Opals (thick embossing powder)
Thick, soft round tipped paint brush and
fine detail brush
Black scrap card to stamp initial image on

PROCEDURE

Ink up Tut collage with Versamark Watermark ink and stamp onto black card.
With a very fine tipped brush begin to place the individual colours of PearlEx where you want the colour on the image.  Use a gentle sweeping motion and don't be stingy with the PearlEx, you can brush off excess later.  At this stage a good covering is crucial.  This may take several hours if you are being careful.
When the individual colours are where you want them and have been brushed across the wet ink (this will be visible) then take your creation outside and using a big soft fluffy brush (like those used to apply blush to women's cheeks- but softer, like sable), brush gently and swiftly across the PearlEx'd card - this will remove excess PearlEx and fill in any uncoloured areas of image.
  Spray card with gloss fixative.
Place double sided tape around edges of card and coat front section with magic leaf, brush of excess with a stiff brush.
On background card, stamp ankh and wadjet eye in Versamark Watermark ink and
brush with PearlEx (interference green, blue and gold), same as for central image.
Spray with fixative.
Mount central Tut image onto background card with double sided tape.
With a sponge dauber smudge some pigment ink on background card below Tut image and cover with black UTEE - build up several layers.  On top layer sprinkle
interference UTEE colours onto black (I used green, gold and blue).
When colours are acceptable begin curling some coloured wire.  Wind some blue wire around a paint brush handle to create a circle, put aside.  Using fingers and paint brush handle create an upside down 'v' shape with a curl on one end - put aside.  Finally using a thicker paint brush create and eye shape, squeeze one end and twist the other.
Heat up UTEE again and drop in wire shapes to create a wire wadjet eye.
To finish off, stamp an ankh (NonSequitur) on reverse side (silver side) of some gold shim.  Using shim tool push out pattern and add texture to rest of image.  Carefully cut out ankh with small sharp scissors.  Mount onto base of card overlapping Tut image  and base card with Double sided tape for height.
  Card completed.

HINTS & TIPS

The PearlEx will get everywhere, just brush it off afterwards.
Sweaty or oily fingerprints attract PearlEx, so try and keep your hands off the card you are painting the PearlEx onto, or failing that, a nice pair of those white cotton gloves do the trick.

Whole card stamped with Versamark Watermark ink and coloured with PearlEx pigments.
