PROCEDURE
| |
Cut specialty paper to sizes shown
on design. Each symbol represents one pattern of paper, please
note that 2 lengths of paper are needed from most patterns, with
the exception being the central square this should be
different from all the others!
|
 |
| |
Cut a backing square (9.6 x 9.6cm
from scrap card or JAC paper) this will be the base that the
quilt design is stuck onto. |
| |
Beginning from the
right outside corner (no 1) and working towards the middle,
adhere the first strip to the backing square, lining it up with
the outside edges. Follow this with the second strip, then
third etc. as indicated on the above design. NB: Remember
to alternate the paper designs (as indicated by the symbols) and
to place the papers carefully try to keep them lining up at
right angles with each other. |
| |
When the design is
complete, it may need a little something to finish it off.
Try using eyelets, brads, adhesive gems small embellishments
that will not obscure the design. Of course if there is a
mistake it can be covered with something a little larger. |
| |
Glue design onto black
card square to frame design and then onto square base card. |
| |
The card may be left as-is at this
point or embellished further, try an Asian Coin or charm on
oriental themed cards. |

HINTS & TIPS
| |
Accuracy is important in this technique if
the measurements are incorrect then the effectiveness of the
design will be diminished so measure carefully! So saying,
there are bound to be a few errors in cutting or measuring (no
one is perfect) but dont worry, these can be hidden by
overlapping the papers as you lay them onto the design. |
| |
Your chances of success are greatly increased if you get
your jac / scrap paper cut to an exact square, the pattern
will line up much better. |
